Synopsis

The ethnographic film delves into the profound bond between Athenians and open archaeological spaces, spotlighting "The Academy of Plato," a serene park adorned with ancient relics and cherished by the local community. In addition to its historical significance, the park serves as a vibrant cultural center, where residents gather for live events, theatrical performances, and music classes.

Amidst growing concerns about gentrification and commercialization, the film amplifies the voices of locals who are deeply invested in preserving the park's integrity. As discussions swirl about potentially transforming the site into a paid-entry museum, residents share their perspectives and aspirations, advocating vehemently against the commodification of their shared space.

Through intimate narratives and alternative proposals, the film underscores the residents' steadfast resistance to the commercialization of their communal oasis. It champions the preservation of the park as not only a repository of history but also as a vital hub for community engagement and the perpetuation of cultural traditions.
